This is usually the space where artists list their formal training, credentials and other impressive artistic involvements however, I’m afraid that I haven’t got any fancy qualifications or extraordinary achievements to note.
I draw, paint and otherwise make things with my hands because I enjoy doing it. I’m motivated by the challenge, the feedback that I receive and the sense of genuine accomplishment that comes from seeing a project through from conception to completion.
I’m not ashamed to admit that when someone purchases as much as a sticker sheet or a magnet from my Zazzle stores, it really makes my day. The fact that someone likes the product that I designed enough to purchase it with their hard earned cash provides a great deal of the incentive for me to continue uploading and updating.
I love the fact that thousands of people from all over the world have my work in their homes and on their clothes. I’ve unintentionally and intentionally designed tattoos that are permanently inked on the bodies of absolute strangers. I’ve been commissioned to create very special, unique gifts from random people who have stumbled upon me via google searches and my work has been used on a popular webseries.
So having said all this, I guess that despite the fact I have not pursued art as a career path I have still had some success in my own way.
I enjoy doing anything creative, if this could be my full time job it would be amazing but, unfortunately I’m not quite there yet.
Someday in the distant future perhaps. So until that time comes to pass I will keep doing what I’ve been doing for years, making messes, seeking new challenges, experimenting with color, texture and a whole lot of paint. I’ll continue doing what I love (while working full time on the side) and I’ll see where it takes me.
